On Saturday, May 18, 2024, Passport Rotary will perform a variety of farm work, including planting seedlings, working in the greenhouse, property maintenance for Bethel Hobbs Community Farm for its Rotary Day of Service.
Volunteers are asked to wear clothes they don't mind getting dirty, wear closed toed shoes, and bring a pair of gardening or work gloves with them. Volunteers will need to fill out a waiver on site to participate.
Bethel Hobbs Community Farm is a cooperative gardening project that has grown to over five acres and donates an average of 30,000 lbs. of fresh, organically grown produce to several local food pantries and soup kitchens. Passport Rotary will distribute some of this produce later this year to nomadic houseless families living on the east end of Long Island, through their Share the Blessings Mobile Food Pantry.
