Smithtown Historical Society- Behind the Yellow Building
239 E Main Street
Smithtown,
New York

On Saturday, May 20, 2023, Smithtown Rotary will be planting two 4'x8' Kindness Gardens and installing a Peace Pole on the grounds of the Smithtown Historical Society for its Rotary Day of Service.
Volunteers should be dressed to dig and are encouraged to bring shovels and spades with them! Volunteers should meet at the Smithtwon Historical Society, behind the yellow building. Parking is available across the street.
The Kindness Gardens were purchased from the Catherine Violet Hubbard Foundation, which honors the memory of six year-old Catherine, a kind and compassionate animal lover who lost her life at Sandy Hook Elementary. The gardens consist of perennial indigenous pollinator plants that will support butterfly migration and strengthen our local ecosystems.
The Peace Pole Project is part of a global movement to promote peace on earth. Each Peace Pole bears the message May Peace Prevail on Earth in different languages on each of its sides. There are estimated over 250,000 Peace Poles in every country in the world dedicated as monuments of peace.
Whether you’re in Rotary or not, we’d love to have your help for as much of the day as you can spare! Please sign up to volunteer, and we’ll be in touch.
